Directions: To begin the licensing process in Wisconsin you must be at least 15 ½ years old. The licensing process will require you to pass a vision, knowledge and driving skills test. These three tests together will demonstrate that you know how to operate safely a motor vehicle in the state of Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin knowledge test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions that are based on information from the Wisconsin Driver Handbook. You are required to answer 40 questions correctly to pass.
You have five opportunities to take and retake the Wisconsin knowledge test before you will need to obtain the WI DMV’s approval to try again.
